Former Lady Topper volleyball player Rachel Engle was named Monday as Western Kentucky’s recipient of Conference USA’s Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Award.
The conference annually awards the $4,000 scholarships to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.
Engle graduated from WKU in May with a perfect 4.00 GPA as a biology major with a chemistry minor. She was named a President’s Scholar each semester of her career.
A four-year letter winner for the Lady Toppers volleyball team, the outside hitter was named the team’s Most Improved Player in 2014. During her time on the roster, WKU won four conference regular-season titles and earned three conference championships to advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2012, ’14 and ’15.
Engle has applied to the Doctor of Pharmacy programs at Sullivan University and Lipscomb University.
