Potential criminal charges are pending against a man after an April 6 standoff with law enforcement officers in Bee Spring.
The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to a home in Bee Spring on a call involving a shooting threat.
Deputy Jordan Jones, along with Sgt. Nathan Dennis of the Brownsville Police Department, responded. Upon arrival, officers found two juveniles and three adults in the home. The caller, Michael Miller, 55, of Bee Spring, called and made a threat that officers should respond and there would be someone killed in a few minutes, according to a release from Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle.
Officers evacuated the home with the exception of Miller. Sheriff Shane Doyle and Deputy Stoney Phillips then went inside the home to talk to Miller, according to the release. Miller gave up and was taken for medical care in Bowling Green, Doyle said.
“Our objective is always to keep people safe, while also attending to people who need help. Mr. Miller clearly needed help, although he definitely didn’t go about requesting it the right way,” Doyle said in the release.
Doyle plans to seek criminal charges against Miller and commended all of the law enforcement agencies that worked together to peacefully resolve the situation.
