Obama isn’t JFK; he’s just another politician

Barack Obama throughout this election season has been compared to various historical and/or political figures such as JFK, Billy Graham and even Ronald Reagan.

Personally, I haven’t seen much evidence that he compares a whole lot to any of them. The one personality that I do see a comparison to is a televangelist from Houston named Joel Osteen. Osteen is a nondenominational preacher that fills pews as well as offering plates every time he steps in front of a crowd or camera.

Osteen admits he doesn’t want to talk about anything negative and that he just wants people to feel good about themselves; hope, if you will. An Obama rally is very similar.

After a few minutes of obligatory Bush bashing, Obama begins his sermon. He has rhythm, he has pitch, the crowd rocks, they laugh and they cry. He raises millions of dollars and then just when you think he will call you to the altar and wash away your sins, the speech is over. There you stand, pockets empty and who you thought may have been the second coming, waves goodbye, plays a foot stomping campaign tune, and slithers to another city to work the magic on another crowd just like the one before.

I think I’ve figured out, contrary to a lot of believers, that he isn’t the second coming. He isn’t Moses, he’s not even Benny Hinn, the healing, head-popping televangelist.

Mr. Obama is just another politician from Chicago with a huge ego, just like every other politician who runs for our highest office.
