Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm said on his radio show Wednesday that tight end Tyler Higbee could return from a left knee sprain for next week’s game at Florida International.
If Higbee is not ready to go against FIU, Brohm said he expects the redshirt senior back in time for the Nov. 27 regular-season finale against Marshall.

“Tyler’s coming along very well,” Brohm said. “This week he’s started to work more. We’re going to try to get him back for the FIU game. We obviously want to do what’s best for Tyler, and we’ll always do that, but I think he has a chance to play.
“If for some reason he can’t, I’m pretty confident he’ll be back for the Marshall game.”
Higbee injured his knee Oct. 15 at North Texas and hasn’t played since. He has 31 catches for 463 yards and six touchdowns this season.
