HILLTOPPER FOCUS: Three-star wing Lloyd doesn’t make expected trip to WKU

Sean Lloyd, a three-star 2015 wing originally from Philadelphia, did not visit Western Kentucky this weekend as expected.
Lloyd, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard out of Mt. Zion Prep Academy in Baltimore, told the Daily News on Sunday that “things didn’t go through with compliance.”

Lloyd had been scheduled to visit WKU this weekend for a few weeks and was still planning to visit late last week, but it seems a hang-up occurred somewhere in between. That was also before the Hilltoppers signed 7-1 English center Nathan Smith on Friday.
Smith is WKU’s seventh signee and the 10th expected new player on WKU’s 2015-16 roster.
Lloyd previously told the Daily News he’s also considering Old Dominion, Drexel and Farleigh Dickinson.
His high school coach said Lloyd had double-digit offers – including WKU – heading into his senior season, but an ankle injury limited his exposure on the summer circuit. He was also waiting to reach certain test score standards, so many schools moved on to other options.
But WKU had been involved since the beginning, Mt. Zion coach Rodrick Harrison said, and that made a big difference to Lloyd.
“He and the coaches hit it off pretty well,” Harrison said last week. “He’s even (postponed) a few visits that have come about just so he can go there and make sure. If he goes there and it’s a good fit for him, he’s going to commit.

“He’s not interested in taking all his visits. He just wants to be in the right place.”
WKU was also expected to host Willy Kouassi, a graduate transfer center from Kennesaw State, for a visit this weekend.
