Western Kentucky is in the process of updating its online football roster, and although it’s still not complete, the Tops have added a host of newcomers to the ranks.
WKU likely made the most noise Thursday by officially adding former basketball standout George Fant to the roster as a fifth-year tight end.

But the Hilltoppers have also updated the roster with 16 true freshmen who didn’t take part in spring practice, including 14 who signed with the program in February. Omarius Bryant, a junior-college signee on the defensive line, is also on the roster.
The only 2015 signee not on the roster is DeVon Quincy, a two-star linebacker out of Lafayette High School in Lexington. Quincy told the Daily News on Thursday he had surgery about two weeks ago and plans to join WKU for the spring semester.
Also on the roster are two freshmen who didn’t sign in February – Drell Greene and Ben Holt.
Greene, a two-star safety from Georgia, committed to the Tops in December but ultimately didn’t make it official on National Signing Day. He told the Daily News in February he still planned to join the program, even if it was as a grayshirt in the spring.
Holt, the son of WKU defensive coordinator Nick Holt, was expected to join the Tops out of Bowling Green High School as a preferred walk-on fullback.
It’s important to note both that WKU hasn’t finished updating its roster, and that it’s July, so don’t be surprised to see additions and subtractions by the time fall camp rolls around.
