A Russellville resident reported an attempted burglary in progress on East Ninth Street at 9 a.m.

The victim heard the would-be burglar attempting to force the back door open. The victim told the Russellville Police Department the attempted burglar was a white male, bald with light brown facial hair and said he ran when he realized someone was inside, according to a news release from the Russellville police.

Further investigation lead to the arrest of Matthew Roche. Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker found Roche, 39, at his Lewisburg home. He is charged with second-degree burglary and was in Logan County Detention Center.
