Ezra “Demp” Alford, 74, of Louisville, passed away Jan. 7, 2015, at Baptist Health.
Born in Richardsville, he was a retired senior chemist for Brown and Williamson. For the past 20 years, Demp ran a consulting firm out of his home for companies around the world analyzing flavors and fragrances. He was an avid gardener, feeding many friends, neighbors and people in need every year. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp mind and wonderful sense of humor, He graduated from Peabody University and attended Western Kentucky University and University of Louisville.
Demp is survived by his loving wife, the former Donna Curella; a daughter, Nikola D. Alford; and brothers Ray Alford (Etta Mae), H.C. Alford Jr. (Jean D.) and Frank Alford (Gwen).
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CST Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Green River Union Cemetery in Richardsville.
