Joy Lyons

Joy Lyons, 56, of Park City, passed away Jan. 12, 2015, at 8:55 a.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Joy was born in Owensboro to the late John L. Medley and survived by her mother Elizabeth Isbell Medley. Joy was a park ranger for 33 years at Mammoth Cave National Park. She was passionate about research, interpretation and preserving our rich history for future generations.

Joy is survived by her husband, David Lyons of Park City; three daughters, Carrie Lyons, Rebekah Lyons and Hayley Lyons; four sisters, Monica Calhoun (David), Claudia Book (Brent), Susan Algie and Laura Potts (Steve); and two brothers, John Medley (Laura) and Parker Medley.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday. Memorial is at 3 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby and Son, Lovers Lane chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Bells Tavern Historical Park. Online condolences may be made at www.jckirbyandson.com.
