HILLTOPPER FOCUS: WKU quarterback Parker McLeod leaves program

One of Western Kentucky’s quarterback options of the future has left the school.

Parker McLeod – a 6-foot-3, 195-pound rising redshirt sophomore – is no longer with the program, WKU confirmed Wednesday.

McLeod isn’t listed in WKU’s student database. He did not attend the Hilltoppers’ first team meeting of the semester and has plans to transfer to a school where he will not play football, according to WKU.

McLeod transferred to WKU after redshirting his first year at Alabama in 2013. He would’ve been eligible for the upcoming season, although he would’ve been battling for a backup position behind sixth-year senior starter Brandon Doughty.

The Hilltoppers have four quarterbacks – Doughty, Nelson Fishback, Drew Eckels and Troy Jones – currently on the roster, although those numbers could still change by the time spring ball rolls around.

Quarterback Todd Porter transferred from the program in the offseason.

The Hilltoppers picked up a verbal commitment Monday from Lexington Catholic High School QB Reese Ryan, who’s rated a three-star prospect by Scout.
