Western Kentucky’s women’s soccer team concluded the 2024 season with a 1-0 loss to Sam Houston on Friday night at the WKU Soccer Complex.
The match was a 0-0 stalemate until the 83rd minute when Sam Houston (8-7-2 overall, 5-4-0 Conference USA) got off a shot that bounced down off the crossbar and went over the goal line to give the Bearkats the 1-0 lead.
WKU (3-8-5, 1-3-5) made a final push in the last few minutes with multiple looks at the goal, the best coming from graduate student Lily Rummo who had a shot sail just above the crossbar.
The Hilltoppers outshot Sam Houston 11-7 in the match, but the Bearkats had the advantage in shots on goal with three over two. Kayla Meyer led WKU in shots with three on the night, while Aspen Seaich, Maggie Morris and Rummo each had two.
WKU goalkeeper Maddie Davis finished with two saves in the match.
