More than 10 area businesses have earned spots on the list of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky.
Connected Nation, which provides extensive broadband planning services, is celebrating its fourth consecutive year on the list.

This is the 10th year the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce have compiled the list, according to a news release from KYSHRM and the chamber. Best Companies Group managed the selection process.
Mandi Thomas, benefits and payroll manager at Connected Nation, said the company is proud to have once again achieved the title of one of the best places to work in the state.
“We value our employees, and we strive to make it a place where you can be rewarded for the excellent work performed on a daily basis,” Thomas said. “We work hard to provide a benefits and incentives package that is worthy of recognition.”
The honor is especially encouraging for the business because the selection process is based on an internal employee survey that gauges employees’ assessment of company policies and procedures, Thomas said.
Making a business a great place to work takes everyone, and that is what the staff at Connected Nation does, she said.
“We have outstanding staff. … I think that one of the things we all look forward to is working with great people day in and day out,” Thomas said.

Other Bowling Green businesses on the list included Hitcents, Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac and ARGI Financial Group. Bluegrass Cellular Inc., Van Meter Insurance Group, PBI Bank, Edward Jones, Farm Credit Mid-America, Hilliard Lyons, Neace Lukens, Community Trust Bank and First Federal Savings Bank were recognized in multiple cities and have branches in the region.
The competition is split into small-, medium- and large-company categories based on how many employees a business has. Connected Nation has about 100 employees, putting it in the small-company category, Thomas said.
All the companies on the list are invited to an April 24 awards dinner at the Lexington Convention Center, where the winner rankings will be announced, the release said.
Thomas said Connected Nation will likely send 10 employees to the dinner as they have the past three years.
“It’s just a fun night,” she said. “It’s something that we’ve started to look forward to.”
Best Places to Work in Kentucky is “a multi-year initiative designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence,” according to the release.
Thomas said Connected Nation plans to do just that.
“We’re looking forward to five years in a row,” she said.
