Lynn Garner 'Pete' Jones

Lynn Garner “Pete” Jones, 78, of Smiths Grove, went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 4, 2014, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.

The Greeneville, Tenn., native was a son of the late Doyle Fay Jones and Wanza Myers Jones, who survives. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Ann Jones; a sister, Brenda Faye Esto; and a brother-in-law, Jack Crabtree. He was a self-employed farmer, a businessman and a member and Sunday school teacher at Oak Forest Baptist Church. He was a great athlete and a solid Christian who willingly helped others.

He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and caring friend.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Frances Sledge Jones; his mother, Wanza Myers Jones; a daughter, Robin Jones Howard; a son, Brian Lynn Jones (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Emily Howard Martin (Ronnie), Ryan Keith Howard, Macy Elizabeth Jones and Molly Gale Jones; a great-grandchild-to-be, Garner Martin and great-grandchildren Kane Martin and Eli Martin; two sisters, Lynville Crabtree of Sweetwater, Tenn., and Sharron Jones, M.D. of Thomaston, Ga.; a brother, Anthony Glen Jones ( Carol) of Plano, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved “Rosebud.”

Funeral is at 3 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Grove chapel, with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is from  2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
