Nancy Wells Parker

Nancy Wells Parker, 73, died March 17, 2013, at her residence. 

She was a native of Thomson, Ga., and the daughter of Amanda and Barney C. Wells Sr. She was a graduate of Tift College in Forsyth, Ga. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Bowling Green, where she had served as organist, vestry member, junior and senior warden and an office and garden volunteer for many years. She had maintained private piano and organ studios in Bowling Green, Auburn and Glasgow. During her professional life, she established the Independent Music Teachers Association of Bowling Green, and was an active member of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, serving as treasurer and membership chairman for many years. She was also one of the first board members of the Bowling Green-Western Kentucky Symphony, having served as treasurer of that board for several years. She was a charter member of the Landmark Association of Bowling Green.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, John D. Parker; a son, Jason Parker of Seattle; two brothers, William H. Wells of Augusta, Ga., and Barney (Lum) Columbus Wells of Warrenton, Ga.; two godsons, Aidan and Collin McAllister of Bowling Green; and one niece and three nephews.

Visitation will be at Christ Episcopal Church from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church.
