Orchestra Kentucky will bring the magic of the holiday season to downtown Bowling Green this weekend with the J.C. Kirby & Son Christmas Spectacular.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at SKyPAC.

“The J.C. Kirby & Son Christmas Spectacular is a cherished holiday tradition in southcentral Kentucky,” said Makenzie Belcher, Arts of Southern Kentucky marketing and PR assistant. “It’s a great way to celebrate the season with your loved ones.”

She said patrons can expect to hear their favorite Christmas songs, carols and orchestral pieces, along with performances by choirs and special guest artists “that help add a special magic to the night.”

“Santa Claus will also be there, so bring the kids to meet him,” Belcher said.

Orchestra Kentucky has been performing the  Christmas shows for 25 years, she said, “bringing the sounds of the season to life and joy to all.”

She said the concerts have always been well-attended.

“For many, this concert captures everything that makes the Christmas season special,” she said.

This year, a limited number of free gingerbread kits, provided by BAIRD, will be available for patrons to take home and enjoy.

This is also the final chance to see the gingerbread houses from the 10th annual Gingerbread Homes for the Arts Contest, displayed in the Goodwin Gallery.

“And outside, our 30-foot tall Community Christmas Tree will shine brightly, creating a perfect photo opportunity,” Belcher said. “Inside, SKyPAC transforms into a winter wonderland, offering a festive atmosphere for all.”

J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels is the title sponsor. Other sponsors include Graves Gilbert Clinic, series sponsor; and Joe and Sharon Davis, The Glenview Trust Co., and Houchens Industries.
