Locals compete at Pepsi stop in Franklin

Scottsville’s Drew Blankenship shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to win the boys’ ages 17-18 division during the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour’s stop at Kenny Perry’s Country Creek in Franklin.
Bowling Green’s Chad Krebs tied for second in the 17-18 group with a 77. Other local finishers were Nate Layton (Glasgow, fifth), Matt Turner (Glasgow, tied-seventh), Dylan Ross (Alvaton, t-10th) and Carrington Harpe (Alvaton, t-10th).
In the boys’ 15-16 division, Auburn’s Carson Zibart finished third with an 83. He was followed in that group by Jackson Smith (Bowling Green, t-fourth), Jack Grise (Bowling Green, t-fourth), Josh Propst (Bowling Green, t-seventh), Bryce Logsdon (Glasgow, t-10th), Caleb Hall (Bowling Green, 12th), Jameson Hutchison (Bowling Green, 13th) and Griffin Gaskins (Bowling Green, 16th).
Glasgow’s Chase Landrum shot an even-par 72 in the boys’ 13-14 division to finish second. He was followed by Christian Tooley (Bowling Green, t-third), Triston Wheeler (Bowling Green, t-sixth), Nick Shrull (Franklin, 11th), Eli Sparks (Bowling Green, 15th), Tyler Pruett (Bowling Green, 18th) and Garrett Kirby (Scottsville, 19th).
Franklin’s Brandon Fykes won the boys’ 11-12 group with a 1-over-par, nine-hole total of 37. Other area finishers were Collier Curd (Bowling Green, t-second), Clay Spears (Franklin, fifth), Alex Gilbert (Franklin, seventh) and Parker McMillin (Franklin, eighth).
Canon Claycomb shot a 37 in the boys’ 10-and-under division to win. Bowling Green’s Maxwell Bewley finished sixth.
All five competitors in the boys’ 8-and-under division were from Bowling Green. Cooper Claycomb won with a six-hole total of 33, and he was followed by Reed Richey, Daniel Murphy, Jaxon Moss and Will Morgan.
On the girls’ side, Scottsville’s Rachel Carter won the 16-18 division with a 72, beating Scottsville’s Taylor King by two strokes. They were followed by Hannah Turner (Smiths Grove, third), Courtney Swindle (Glasgow, t-fifth), Shayna Cockrill (Scottsville, t-fifth) and Carlie Taylor (Scottsville, 10th).
Franklin’s Rachael Stewart tied with Glasgow’s Kylie Withrow for first in the girls’ 13-15 group with an 80. Bowling Green’s Lauren Elliot and Glasgow’s L.D. Steenbergen tied for fourth with 96s.
In the 12-and-under division, Glasgow’s Jill Florence finished second with a 51. Other local finishers were Allison Wheeler (Bowling Green, third), Megan Swindle (Glasgow, fourth), Cortney Withrow (Glasgow, t-fifth), Grace Murphy (Bowling Green, t-fifth) and Maddy Murphy (Morgantown, seventh).
Rockfield’s Faith Martin finished second in the girls’ 9-and-under group.
The Pepsi Tour continues today at Barren River State Park Golf Course in Lucas.
