Det. Sgt. Freddie E. Lancaster

Det. Sgt. Freddie E. Lancaster, retired from the Bowling Green Police Department, was born Jan. 29, 1940, and passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on Jan. 20, 2012. He was 71.
Sgt. Lancaster served his community with distinction and honor for 23 years. He also served his country and was awarded an honorable discharge from the Navy. Sgt. Lancaster attended Greenwood Church of Christ. He was the son of James and Irene Lancaster, who preceded him in death. Det. Lancaster is survived by his loving wife, Rita Lancaster of Bowling Green; a daughter, Lauria Mae Lancaster of Bellingham, Wash.; a son, Bradley Thomas Lancaster of Bowling Green; a grandson, Zachary Lancaster of Bowling Green; a great-granddaughter, Jocelynn; two stepsons, Roger and Sammy Towe, both of Bowling Green; two stepdaughters, Ronda Towe and Debra Lynn Sizemore, both of Bowling Green; and several stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview-Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel.
