Film historian and creator of the Glasgow Film Society John Hitchcock personally selects movies that represent the finest in Hollywood’s achievements and have stood the test of time.  The October 15, 2011 matinee at 1:00 PM on the big screen of the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library will be no exception.  “Double Indemnity” exemplifies the Film Noir genre. It’s based on a story by James M. Cain with a screenplay co-authored by Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder. This movie classic was nominated for seven Academy Awards and stars Fred MacMurray as the insurance salesman blinded by the charms of femme-fatale Barbara Stanwyck and features Edward G. Robinson at his gruff best.
