Warren County Public Library Director Lisa Rice was awarded the Outstanding Public Library Service Award by the Kentucky Public Library Association on Tuesday, April 12.  The award was presented at the conference held in Lexington, Kentucky.

The purpose of the award is to recognize the contribution of an administrator whose career has exemplified a combination of excellence in local service with promotion of libraries on a regional or broader basis. Nominees are considered based on their accomplishments in the area of public relations, community involvement as a library representative, achievements and innovations in service/operations, cooperation and networking with other professions.  Their service must have regional or statewide impact on library services.

Rice is an active member of many local and regional organizations.  On a national level, she served a term as the Southeastern Library Association representative which included a voting position on the Kentucky Library Association Board.  She also chaired the National Library Week Grant committee organized by the American Library Association. Currently, she serves as secretary of the Kentucky Library Association.

“Lisa is the consummate professional,” says Assistant Director Ashley Fowlkes.  “Her attention to detail and insight into the needs of our community has contributed greatly to the success of our library system over the past decade. She strives to make service to others her number one goal in every task she undertakes. She is widely admired, locally and throughout the state – and for good reason! Her contributions to the library world are beyond measure,” says Fowlkes.
