SCOTTSVILLE — Melissa Ellen Gant, 88, of Scottsville, died at 3 a.m. May 9, 2011, at The Medical Center at Scottsville.

The Simpson County native was a homemaker and a member of Maysville Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward Taylor and Ida Carter Taylor and the wife of the late Jessie Warren Gant. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Horn; and two brothers, Murl Taylor and Carl Taylor.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home, with burial in Haysville Cemetery. Visitation is in progress today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions for funeral expenses. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Bea Gant of Scottsville; a sister-in-law, Nadell Taylor of Indiana; two nieces, Dorothy Hines and Linda Dortman and her husband, James, all of Bowling Green; and two nephews, Carline Shields and Jimmy Shields, both of Bowling Green.
