CAVE CITY — Fred Groce, 89, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Horse Cave, died June 5, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville.
The Burkesville native was a farmer, a construction worker, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a son of the late Sampson Groce and Edna Riddle Groce and the husband of the late Adra Cornett Groce. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Preston, Hayden and Ralph Groce; and a sister, Lila Spears.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, with burial in Glasgow Memorial Gardens. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Gwen Gibbs and her husband, Glen, of Clarksville; three sons, Donnie Groce and Frank Groce and his wife, Sharon, all of Horse Cave, and Ronnie Groce of Edmonton; a grandson, Kelly Groce of Bowling Green; and a brother, Paul Groce of Glasgow.
