Kentucky Repertory Theatre in Horse Cave is offering a series of week long camps which focus on arts and science for children and youth.  Four sessions are offered with choice of morning or afternoon the weeks of July 11 – 15 and 18-22.  For each sessions participants choose one of three camps: Theatre, Environmental Earth Science or Books.  Participants may sign up for multiple sessions for a discount of $10 per additional session.  Sessions cost $75 each and limited scholarships are available.

The Theatre camp will include learning about and experiencing various elements of theatrical production culminating in a performance.  It is conducted by the professional actors and directors associated with Kentucky Repertory Theatre.  According to their website elements include: “creative drama, improvisation, scene study, oral interpretation, play production, stage combat, and best of all…produce a play!”  The camp is open to both experienced and beginning students ages 7 to 19.

Environmental Earth Science sessions will be held at Hidden River Cave, where according to their website you will “engage in an exciting exploration of cave animals, geology, water conservation, archaeology, the world of bats, the fossil remains of people who lived here long ago.”  It is also open ages 7 thru 19.

The Book camp involves learning bookmaking, literary activities and reading and discussions with book experts from Two Bears and a Dog Bookstore.  It is open to those over 10 years old.

Students who enroll in both morning and afternoon sessions will have an unsupervised break from noon to 1 p.m. and should bring their own lunches or purchase them from the Gallery or a nearby shop.
