Chest Rockwell‘s brand of Prog has been compared to Rush, King Crimson and Pink Floyd. According to Josh Hines, the music is comprised of “A lot of mixed meter time signatures, key changes, symphonic elements, dynamics, odd rhythms, etc. Other than that prog stuff it’s got some metal, some post-rock soundtrack sounding stuff, some thrash, some math rock, etc. It’s fairly technical stuff which is why we get thrown in progressive rock a lot.” Check it out at www.youtube.com/therealchestrockwell.
Chest Rockwell’s 2009 album Total Victory was finalist in the 2010 Italian Prog Awards and made 2 Best of 2009 lists, finishing as high as #8 on one of them. Laugh and the World Laughs with You has also garnered praise with www.progarchives.com calling it “a modern heavy prog album, interspersed with passages that, with careful thought and nurturing, can move this band into commercially fruitful territory. This is, at the end of the day, very impressive, modern, heavier progressive rock, with a hint of pomposity, and I say this as a compliment.”
