FOUNTAIN RUN — Edith Steenbergen Ward, 84, of Fountain Run, died Sept. 20, 2010, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

She was born July 1, 1926, one of 10 siblings born to the late Noah and Malissa Todd Steenbergen. She married Louis Earl Ward on Dec. 26, 1946, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1994. She was a homemaker and loved her family. The remaining family recall memories of what a good grandmother she was and how good her cooking skills were, especially her dressing on special occasions. She hardly ever pulled out a recipe, she just knew what to put in anything she was cooking to make it her own. She was good with a needle, making fine quilts over the years. She was preceded in death by two children, Kenneth Louis Ward and Carolyn Ward Hagan; seven brothers; and a sister.

Funeral was Wednesday at Fountain Run Funeral Home, with burial in Pleasant Home Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nancy Ward of Glasgow; a son-in-law, Richard Hagan of Fountain Run; two sisters, Maymie Harrison of Austin and Katherine Sullivan, both of Austin Tracy; four grandchildren, Melissa Jones and Rachel Gammons, both of Fountain Run, Johnny Ward of Glasgow and Stephanie Bailey of Bowling Green; and six great-grandchildren.
