- Harry Potter Night coming up Nov. 12 at Kentucky Museum
In conjunction with the November release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, the Kentucky Museum will be holding a Harry Potter Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 12.
The free event on WKU’s campus is for Harry Potter fans of all ages.
Fans of the J.K. Rowling series will be sorted into one of the four houses, given a class schedule and participate in a variety of Harry Potter-related activities throughout the museum.
“With the upcoming release of the Harry Potter movie, we felt this was the perfect time to offer this event,” said Christy Spurlock, Education Curator of the Kentucky Museum. “Whether they’ve read the series or not, everyone will really enjoy the night.”
There will be a total of nine activity stations, staffed by WKU Hogwarts students. The sorting hat will assign participants a house and send them on their journey for the night. Each guest will have the opportunity to visit Hagrid’s Hut and learn about the care and feeding of magical creatures, sample sweets at Honeydukes, and join Dumbledore’s Army. Other activities include magical potions, Harry Potter trivia, wand making and much more.
There will be a costume contest for both children and adults. Guests are encouraged to don their special witch, wizard or creature apparel. An area will be set up to register for the competition.
“We have received a terrific response to date and anticipate a wonderful turn out,” Spurlock said. “Harry Potter has a multi-generational following so we look forward to folks from all ages attending.”
The free event is sponsored by Friends of WKU Libraries & Museum. Click here for information regarding the night or contact Christy Spurlock at (270) 745-6082.
