BROWNSVILLE — Richard K. Cox, 69, of Brownsville, died at 10 p.m. Oct. 18, 2010, at his home.

The Harlan County native was a retired production worker for General Electric, an Army veteran and attended Asphalt Church of Christ. He was a son of the late Winston Cox and Millie Madden Cox. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Cox.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday at Gravil Funeral Home, with burial in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation begins at noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Pile Higgs; three sons, Mark Cox of Alachua, Fla., Kenneth Cox of New York and Timothy Cox of Louisville; two brothers, Harrison Cox of Scottsburg, Ind., and John Earl Cox of Lexington; six sisters, Velma Hale of Lexington, Ind., Zella Reardon and Kathy Routt, both of Scottsburg, Phyllis Kriete of Jeffersonville, Ind., Sue Wagner of Barberton, Ohio, and Miranda Cox of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Carolyn Lynn Cox, Richard Michael Cox, Brandon Cox and Bryce Cox.
