Robert F. Bratton

LOUISVILLE — Robert “Bob” Franklin Bratton, 84, of Louisville, died Nov. 11, 2010, at The Episcopal Church Home after a lengthy illness.
The Bowling Green native was born Nov. 22, 1925. He was a World War II veteran and had two tours of duty in the Army of the U.S. in the Headquarters Company, 796th Military Police Battalion in Europe and Japan. He was formerly with the Kentucky State Police and he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a son of the late David Ernest Bratton and Eura Causey Bratton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Blake, Winfield and Charles; and two sisters, Margaret B. Thomas and Lali B. Kohnhorst.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. EST Monday at Pearson Funeral Home, with entombment in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST Sunday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Middletown United Methodist Church, Hosparus or the donor’s favorite charity.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Ida Frank Button; a son, Timothy A. Bratton M.D. and his wife, Jennifer; two grandsons, Andrew P. and Hunter G. Bratton; a niece, Joan T. Rawlings of Elizabethtown; and six nephews, J.T. Thomas Jr., David Thomas, Charles Thomas and Steve Thomas, all of Bowling Green, Charles Gibson of Ithaca, N.Y., and Earl Kohnhorst of San Diego.
