POLICE NEWS: Bowling Green man arrested, charged with rape of a minor

A Bowling Green man was arrested Thursday following allegations of a sexual relationship with a juvenile.

Roger Derwood McKeown Jr., 22, 428 Wade Ave., was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Thursday and charged with third-degree rape.

According to a Bowling Green Police Department arrest report, a 15-year-old girl reported having sex with McKeown on three occasions during September and October.

The girl provided police with letters that McKeown had written to her about their sexual encounters, the report said.

He remains in Warren County Regional Jail under no bond.

Arrest — Katrina A. Bucklew, 42, 2410 Claypool-Boyce Road, Alvaton, was arrested at 8:46 a.m. Thursday at East Sixth Avenue and College Street and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (second offense).

According to a city police report, Bucklew was involved in a two-vehicle collision at that intersection and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Bucklew’s 15-year-old daughter, who was a passenger, told police that her mother had been speeding and weaving all over the road, and that Bucklew was going through her purse when the collision occurred.

Bucklew remains jailed under a $10,000 bond.

Arrest — Jeffrey S. Barnard, 21, 3125 Stonebrook Court, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating on a suspended license.

According to a city police arrest report, Barnard was stopped at Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Tomblinson Way for a traffic violation.

Barnard confessed to having a hypodermic needle in his pants pocket and another needle in his coat pocket, which police found, along with a small bag of methamphetamine, the report said.

He remains jailed under no bond.

Arrests — Nicholas J. Meredith, 24, 6395 Cub Run Highway, Munfordville, and Angela B. Durbin, 20, 100 Dog Creek Hollow Road, Cub Run, were arrested Thursday in Hart County and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responding to a drug complaint at 385 Dog Creek Hollow Road found an active meth lab there.

Meredith and Durbin were placed in Hart County Jail.

Plea — Billy Dewayne Butler, 32, Park City, pleaded guilty Monday in Barren Circuit Court to manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of anhydrous ammonia in unapproved container with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a meth precursor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Barren County Commonwealth’s Attorney Karen Davis, prosecutors are recommending a 15-year sentence for Butler, who will be formally sentenced Jan. 31.

Theft — A Bowling Green man reported that someone who used to work for him at ISTT Inc. had been buying personal items using the man’s business account with PayPal, according to a city police report.

The man said the purchases, which totaled $1,300, had been made throughout the year and provided police with receipts. The case remains under investigation.

Theft of controlled substance — Someone stole bottles of prescription Lorcet, Floricet, Xanax, Lisinopril and Lyrica from a 1998 Ford F-150 parked in the 1200 block of Russellville Road between Nov. 24 and Sunday, according to a city police report.

Theft of registration plate — Someone stole a license plate from a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria parked in the 500 block of Glen Lily Road between Saturday and Wednesday, according to a city police report.
