“New Works,” paintings by Angie Alexieff, are on display in the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church at 10th Avenue and State Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, through Oct. 25.
Nashville artist Linda Coulter will be exhibiting a series of her paintings at the Public Theatre of Kentucky through the PTK run of “Little Shop of Horrors” until Oct. 28. Coulter is a costume designer who has designed for Nashville-area theatrical productions that include Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities, the Nashville Shakespeare Festival, The Nashville Opera Association, the Tennessee Opera and the American Negro Playwrights Theatre.
A Visual Arts Coalition Inc., a new nonprofit organization, will meet at the L&N Depot at 5:30 p.m. Monday. All artists, patrons and supporters of the arts are welcome. The coalition is working toward creating a sustainable art community by increasing visibility, vitality and economic growth for the visual arts. Scottsville Art Guild Exhibits at Gallery on the Square in Franklin is showing the work of 19 members of the Scottsville Art Guild at the Gallery on the Square through Oct. 31. Works include oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and photography. Members exhibiting in the gallery show are Deborah Allison, Carolie Booth, Donna Burns, Regina Carter, Jackie Clark, Wilda Collins, Helen Crocker, Carla Daniel, Pamm Douglas, Jane Duncan, Aleta Foster, Marcia Holm, Katie Helley, Evelyn Law, Russell Law, Lorie Short, Bobbie Vernon, Nadine Wilkerson and Thelma Williams. The public is invited to a reception for the artists from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit is sponsored by Circuit Judge Janet Crocker. The Gallery on the Square, at 110 N. The 15th annual Jack E. Lunt Exhibition in the Houchens Gallery of the Capitol Arts Center includes Joe Molinaro, ceramics; Annabelle Wilson, paintings; Guy Mendes, photography; and Kell Black, drawings. The exhibit is sponsored by the Baker Arboretum and runs through Oct. 15. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

VSA arts of Kentucky will have its annual Side By Side Program at its new gallery at 515 E. 10th Ave. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. This year’s exhibition will include recent artwork created by participating students in the program at the Kelly Autism Center. The exhibition will run through Oct. 26. Folk artist Willie Darnell Rascoe will conduct a driftwood sculpture workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Kentucky Library & Museum at Western Kentucky University. Hardin Planetarium presents the Moons of the Solar System at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through October. It’s closed Oct. 4 and 7. Doors will open 15 minutes before show time. No one will be admitted after the lecture begins. Children 12 years of age and under should be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for admission.
William Woys Weaver, a food historian and author of 14 books, will visit Western Kentucky University at 6 p.m. today to kick off Archives Month. Weaver will be at the Kentucky Library and Museum for “Cookin’ in the Courtyard,” a family festival, with games for all ages and door prizes. Weaver will present “Food and Folkways,” a presentation on historic gardening and preservation at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Get Fresh Crew Presents Fresh Fridays every first Friday at Bread and Bagels. On Oct. 5 see DJ Hook, a special unplugged set by noizejoi and a piano set by Darnell Levine.
The Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra will hold auditions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Corvette Museum Theatre for lead singers for its Countrymadness concert, scheduled for Feb. 8 and 9 at the Capitol Arts Theatre. Interested persons should contact BGCO music director Jeff Reed at jreed@bgco.com. Singers must audition from a song list supplied by the orchestra and must pre-register by the close of business Friday to be eligible for participation.

Raymer Scholarship Fund is hosting its second annual Basketball Invitational and Silent Auction on from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bowling Green High School. Featured teams include BGPD, BG Fire, BG Parks & Recreation, WBKO Tube Jocks, Kentucky State Police and Kohl’s. Tickets will be sold at the door. Adults and children over 12 will be $5 and kids 12 and under are free.There will be kid’s activities, split the pot raffles and a silent auction featuring a 24-inch TV, TV stand, Tennessee Titans tickets, Nashville Predators tickets, Western Kentucky University tickets, autographed sports items, hotel get-away, a GPS system, an electric fireplace, restaurant certificates and more.
Shop the 150-mile Roller Coaster Yard Sale from Oct. 4-6 to celebrate the 21st year of this eight-county yard sale on the Cordell Hull Memorial Highway from Cave City to Celina, Tenn. More than 20,000 collectors, vacationers, buyers and antique buffs are expected for the continuous loop of weekend yard sales.

Jeramy Black’s TaeKwonDo Academy of Bowling Green is teaming up with Mid South Lumber & Supply and IKON Construction again this year to bring the Break-A-Thon to benefit the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kroger parking lot at 2945 Scottsville Road. The event is to help raise community awareness for child safety and funds support of the important services provided by the center.
