The Glasgow Police Department has determined the caliber of bullet that was used to kill a man in his home late Tuesday.
Officers responded to a possible burglary at 312 Green Acres Drive at 1:24 a.m. where they discovered Joseph Nunn, 36, who was fatally shot with a .22-caliber weapon, according to a Glasgow Police Department report. Nunn’s injuries were to the back of his head.
It is believed that Nunn’s wife, Amy Nunn, and their children were home at the time of the shooting. Amy Nunn reported that she had head injuries, but was not treated, according to the Glasgow police report. There was no report of the children sustaining any injuries.
The Criminal Investigation Division has interviewed a number of people, but have not named a suspect.
Meanwhile, Lt. Maxie Murray said state statistics on the number of murders his department has investigated are incorrect.
The department has investigated seven murders since 1998, with six convictions and one under indictment, he said. The department is going to investigate why state crime statistics are incorrect.
Arrest – Charles C. Hamm of London, address unavailable, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a commercial vehicle with commercial drivers’ license expired, and failure to display CDL at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a report from the Smiths Grove Police Department.
During a search of Hamm’s vehicle, a bag was found containing crystal methamphetamine and a pipe for smoking meth, the report said.
Hamm is being held at the Warren County Regional Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
Burglary – Five rings, valued at $9,875, were stolen between Dec. 15 and Dec. 28 from a residence in the 2500 block of Smallhouse Road, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.
Plea – Julio Francisco Castro, 24, 508 Chestnut St., pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and possession of forged identification documents.
During a search of Castro’s residence on Aug. 3, two weapons were found along with ammunition, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville. Castro said both guns were purchased from a flea market in Georgetown.
He faces a maximum potential sentence of 25 years in prison, a $750,000 fine and supervised release for up to five years.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, city police and the Western Kentucky University Police Department.
Sentenced is set for April 2 in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green.
Sentencing – Thaddeus Johnson, 23, 1529 Audubon Dr., was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court to five years in prison for distributing five grams or more of crack cocaine and cocaine in Bowling Green. He pleaded guilty to the charges in September.
On July 27, 2005, Johnson sold 27 grams of power cocaine to an informant for the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Louisville. On Aug. 19, he sold about 10 grams of crack cocaine to a informant for the ATF.
Theft – A 1999 Mercury Marquis, valued at $3,500, was stolen sometime Wednesday from Pedigo Park, according to a city police report. The maroon vehicle had Kentucky plates 723-BZS.
Theft – The Warren County Sheriff’s Department is investigating five thefts on Dec. 28 or Dec. 29 throughout the county.
€Jewelry, clothes and electronics, valued at $1,380, were reported stolen at 2 a.m. Dec. 29 from the 400 block of Nina Miller Road, according to a sheriff’s department report.
€A bicycle, valued at $370, was reported stolen at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 from a residence in the 5600 block of Louisville Road, according to a report.
€An all-terrain vehicle and trailer, valued at $3,000, were reported stolen at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 from a residence in the 10000 block of Russellville Road.
€Electronics and cash were reported stolen from a residence at 8 a.m. Dec. 28 in the 5300 block of Scottsville Road, according to a sheriff’s department report. The items were valued at $365.
€Electronics, valued at $1,200, were reported stolen from a vehicle at 1 a.m. Dec. 28 in the 600 block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard, according to a sheriff’s department report.
Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 842-1633.
Theft – $360 was stolen from a woman’s purse between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday on the 1000 block of Adams Street, according to a city police report.
Theft – A wiring box and copper wire, valued at $4,000, were stolen between Friday and Tuesday from a construction site in the 5600 block of Russellville Road, according to a city police report.
Theft – A Chevrolet Caprice with vertically-opening doors was stolen between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday in front Graphic Motor Sport, 2106 Russellville Road.
The owner of the business said another vehicle was also taken, according to a city police report, but the other vehicle wasn’t reported stolen.
The Caprice is valued at $12,500 and has Tennessee license number LMH-790.
