The Bowling Green Police Department is working to determine potential criminal charges against a man who was shot by an officer early Saturday.
Police say William Forrest Geiger, 118 Minton St., Glasgow, attempted to run over Officer Robert Perry at 5:07 a.m. at the Motel 6 at 3139 Scottsville Road.

Detective Mike Lemon is reviewing the case for potential criminal charges, said Officer Jerry Corbitt, spokesman for city police.
“He won’t have any charges until this afternoon at the earliest,” Corbitt said.
Geiger, 68, attempted to get a room at the motel, but after being unable to enter the room had an altercation with the hotel clerk that led to the police being called, according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Todd Holder, spokesman for the KSP in Bowling Green.
When Perry arrived as the first officer on the scene, Geiger had already gotten into the gray Plymouth Neon he was driving and drove the vehicle straight at Perry, according to the state police report.
Perry fired his weapon once at Geiger’s car, hitting Geiger in the stomach, according to the report. Geiger continued driving, speeding away south on Three Springs Road.
From there, law enforcement chased Geiger’s vehicle the entire length of Three Springs Road before Warren County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Tony Chism used stop sticks to flatten Geiger’s car tires just before the intersection of Three Springs Road and Ky. 240, according to the report. Once Geiger’s tires were deflated, he drove only a short distance farther, and the chase ended in front of Woodburn Church of Christ at 505 Ky. 240.

The state police investigation is focused solely on the shooting, Holder said.
“It’s still early in the investigations. It’s tough to provide a timetable on when it will be finished at this time,” he said.
Geiger was taken from the scene to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was listed in stable condition Saturday.
The center did not return a call for an updated condition early today.
In addition to the shooting incident, Geiger was also listed as a suspect in a theft Tuesday of a 2005 white Chrysler 300 valued at $28,000 from Martin Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler at 2209 Scottsville Road, according to a city police report.
Geiger was reported to have been test-driving the vehicle with an employee. The employee left Geiger in the vehicle while making a copy of his driver’s license, according to the report. At that point, Geiger reportedly drove away.
Geiger had also been released Friday from the Barren County Correction Center on a charge of receiving stolen property over $300. His bond was $1,500 unsecured, according to the correction center’s Web site.
