White Hall State Historic Site Hosts 26th Annual Pops At The Park Aug. 18

White Hall State Historic Site in Richmond will host the 26th Annual Pops at the Park event on Aug. 18.

The Eastern Kentucky University Symphony Orchestra will perform at the event, sponsored by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Chase Bank and the Richmond Area Arts Council. This year’s theme is Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack’s big band sound.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m. Table judging is at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets for tables and chairs can be purchased through the Chamber of Commerce. Advanced blanket seating can be purchased at the park, the chamber offices and other locations in Richmond. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy an evening at the park.

Proceeds from the concert benefit the EKU Department of Music Orchestra Student Scholarship fund and the Lillian Fore Scholarship Fund. There will also be an auction of playhouses with proceeds going to Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence Project.

White Hall, the home of Cassius Marcellus Clay, will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a fireworks display following the concert.

White Hall began as an eight-room Georgian design completed in 1799 and remodeled in the mid 1860’s to its current Italianate style adorned with Corinthian columns and boasting sixteen foot ceilings. White Hall is located in Richmond, off I-75 at exit 95.
