Teacher-Student Art Exhibition continues through May 26 at Memphis Marsha’s Art Gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information, go to www.memphis marshas.com.

&#8220State of the Art: The Artists of State Street,” featuring works by Brandon Harrod, David Jones, Jim Jones, Jeff Leake, Jim Quigley, Nichole Shaver and Fleur Whitaker is on display through May 29 at the Capitol Arts Houchens Gallery. Western Interior Design student projects are on display in the Mezzanine Gallery.

Photographs by Katherine C.H. Epstein are on display at the Gallery on the Square in Franklin from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday through June 26. Floral Magic, an exhibition of colorful flower photographs by Nashville native Epstein, includes many new and never-before-shown works.

Paintings by Neil Peterie are featured through Tuesday at the Cancer Center of The Medical Center.

Paintings by Shanna Paul are exhibited in the classroom at the Health & Wellness Center in Greenwood Mall through June.

Campus

Weekend classes are under way for Western Kentucky University’s Basic Rider Course for motorcyclists. It is for non-riders, new riders or someone wanting a refresher course and is open to anyone 16 years of age or older. Coaches are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Motorcycles and helmets are furnished. The fee for this course is $110. All classes meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All classroom and skills hours must be attended in order to successfully complete course requirements. Western Kentucky University’s 2007 Graduating Senior Art Exhibition, featuring works from more than 30 graduating art students, is on display through Friday. A variety of items are on display, including paintings, watercolors, works on paper, fiber arts, ceramics and sculptures. The exhibition was made possible with support from Provost’s Initiatives for Excellence, WKU Art Department, WKU Libraries, Potter College of Arts & Letters and WNKY TV.

The Allen County-Scottsville Arts Council’s 2007 Arts On Main series of summer concert events begin May 18 with The Ernie Small Blues Band. This free outdoor concert is on East Main Street at the Arts On Main Pavilion (with adjacent rain locale) in Scottsville. Citizens For Gospel Music presents its 19th annual gospel concert at 6 p.m. May 26 at the Cave City Convention Center. This year’s special guest is the Flint Cavaliers from Flint, Mich. The Hopewell Baptist Church Mass Choir from Glasgow and the Center Baptist Church youth dance team from South Union are the local artists opening the concert. A vendor’s area is also available. Advance, non-refundable tickets are on sale until May 19. Prices are $16 for 15 years to adult, $9 for youth 7-14 years, and children 6 and under are admitted free. Tickets are on sale for a special concert series of the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra. The Retro Series opens Aug. 10 and 11 with &#8220One-Hit Wonders,” sponsored by Franklin Bank & Trust Co. and is co-sponsored by Graves-Gilbert Clinic. The second concert in the series is the final return of Motownmadness on Nov. 16 and 17, sponsored by Claudia and Steve Downey, National City Bank and Overhead Door Company of Bowling Green. The Retro Series concludes Feb. 8 and 9 with the first annual &#8220Countrymadness,” a salute to the classic country hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, sponsored by Country Music Café and Brian Schuette & Associates. Kentucky State Parks is making Mother’s Day special with its annual Mother’s Day Buffet at 17 resort parks. The resort parks offer the special buffet from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday. This year’s menu includes roast beef, roast pork with apple dressing, old-fashioned chicken and dumplings, fried catfish and hushpuppies, and a soup and salad bar. Garden vegetables, a cheese bar and various desserts are also included. The meal is $14.95 for adults and $6.95 for children. The price includes a beverage. The Cumberland Trace Relay for Life Team hosts a yard sale to support the American Cancer Society on May 19. Groups and individuals may rent a table and keep the profits. Booth rental proceeds benefit cancer research. The event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school. Cost is $15 a space, $20 for one space and a table; $25 for two spaces and one table and $30 for two spaces and two tables. A book sale is also that day. Paperbacks are $1 and hardbacks are $2. Metcalfe Health Care Center’s Relay for Life Team is having a Ride for a Cure poker run May 19. Entry is $20 for the first hand and $5 for additional hands. The Barren River 5K Classic on May 19 is the next race in the third annual Kentucky State Park Race Series. The race starts at 8:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 7 a.m. at the Barren River Lake State Park Resort lodge near Glasgow. The Barren River 5K is the third of five races in the series. The remaining races are the June 16 Possum Ridge 5K at Taylorsville Lake State Park and the July 14 Magnolia 5K at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. The pre-registration fee is $15 and a race day fee is $20. Awards are given to the overall male and female winner of each race and first- and second-place winners in each male and female age division. The local military support group has a yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the National Guard Armory. Craft vendor booth rentals are available by calling Debbie Robinson at 392-4064. Kentucky State Parks observes Play Golf America Month in May with a special promotion aimed at young golfers. Through May 24, any player 18 or under may play a free round at any Kentucky State Park golf course when accompanied by a paying adult. The free play applies at all 20 state park courses. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Poker Run in Warren County is May 26. Registration is in the parking lot of the Bowling Green Police Department, 911 Kentucky St., from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with the ride beginning at 10 a.m. Early registration prior to May 15 is $15; day of event registration is $20 a hand. Wingfield Volunteer Fire Department Fish and Chicken Fry begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at the department on Ky. 1749. Meals are $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. There will be a cakewalk, raffle of a shotgun and auction, with proceeds benefiting the department.
