PEORIA, Ill. — Benjamin Johnson Humbles, 84, of Peoria died Sept. 17, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital.The Trammell, Ky., native was a World War II Army veteran, a retired Parkway Chrysler Plymouth employee and a member of American Legion Post No. 537. He was a son of the late Andrew H. Humbles and Canzada Humbles.Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and deacon, with burial in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Simmons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.Survivors include his wife, Earlean Humbles; a son, Keith Humbles of Peoria; two brothers, Joseph Humbles of Alvaton, Ky., and Curtis Humbles of Peoria; seven sisters, Eula Skiles, Flossie Simpson, Louise Barnnett and Anzula Page, all of Bowling Green, Ky., Gladys Carter of Litchfield, Ill., Nelzina Crutchfield of Decatur, Ill., and Girlean Johnson of Peoria; and five grandchildren.
