LANCASTER Evelyn Hurt Cotton, 91, of Lancaster died April 10, 2004.The Garrard County native was one of three students in the first graduating class of Camp Dick Robinson High School and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. She began her teaching career in a one-room school in Hamilton Valley and taught in several schools throughout Garrard County, but primarily at the Paint Lick Schools. She received the Teacher of the Year award, was a member of Kirksville Christian Church and Retired Teachers Association and was an active member and program director of the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a daughter of the late Smith Hurt and Polly Joseph Hurt and the wife of the late Ira Glenmore Cotton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Hurt and Elveree Schooler.Funeral was April 14 at Ramsey Funeral Home, with burial in Lancaster Cemetery.Survivors include two daughters, Sue Janet Metcalfe and her husband, James, of Bowling Green and Sharon Hamilton and her husband, James; five grandchildren, Kimberly Hamilton, Jennifer Whitaker, Rebecca Atkins, Lucinda Hensley and Thomas Ira Metcalf; and four great-grandchildren, George, Daniel and Andrew Whitaker and Augustus Hensley.  Daily News ·813 College St. ·PO Box 90012 ·Bowling Green, KY ·42102 ·270-781-1700
