LEITCHFIELD William Ralph Bill Vincent, 78, of Leitchfield died Oct. 22, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.The Edmonson County native was proprietor of Vincents Store for Men in Leitchfield for 34 years, was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he rose to A.S.C.S. state executive director for Kentucky and also served as the Jessamine County A.S.C.S. director. He was a civic leader, farmer, real estate developer, was active in the Democratic party and was a Democratic primary candidate for Kentucky state senator in 1976. He was past president of both Leitchfield Chamber of Commerce and Leitchfield Rotary Club, former chairman of the Grayson County Hospital Board, was founding member of Leitchfield Lions Club, a member of the school board and Leitchfield City Council, a former grandmaster of the Masonic Lodge 236 and a member of First Baptist Church in Leitchfield, where he taught Sunday school for more than 20 years. He was a son of the late Hillery Vincent and Mattie Meredith Vincent and the husband of the late Annabelle Lane Vincent and Dorothy Gipson Vincent.Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Watson and Hunt Funeral Chapel, with burial in Sweeden Cemetery in Sweeden. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions in his name to Hospice of the Bluegrass.Survivors include a son, Dr. William R. Vincent and his wife, Stella, of Bridgewater, N.J.; a daughter, Martha Jane Bandy and her husband, R.L., of Nicholasville; two sisters, Elaine Parsley of Brownsville and Mary Helen Burnette of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, Susan Ryan and her husband, Kevin, of Elizabethtown and Will Vincent and Ed Vincent, both of New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Lander and Lane Ryan; a special friend, Gin Wyatt of Mount Washington; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
