Hilltoppers win soccer match

The Western Kentucky mens soccer team bounced back after a shutout loss Friday to beat Lipscomb University 4-2 at the WKU Soccer Complex on Sunday.Western trailed for part of the match, but scored two goals in the final five minutes for the win. Freshman Jason Dugas scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute. It was Dugas fourth goal of the season.Dugas then found a streaking Edis Kavazovic minutes later for and the final score, which was his second goal of the year. Western fell behind early for the second straight game when Lipscombs Markus Zobec scored the games first goal only six minutes into the contest.Westerns Brandon Bailey tied the score when he got his second goal of the season 20 minutes into the match. Jacob Isenhour assisted on the play.Lipscomb (1-8-1) quickly regained the lead when Scott Mason scored off a free kick just in front of the Hilltopper goal to give the Bisons a 2-1 halftime lead.In the second half, Western evened the score at 2-2 when David Babula scored his first goal of the season on a double header off a throw in. Scott DeGaris inbounded the ball from the far sideline to a leaping Richard Mupfudze, who then headed the ball to Babula for the score. For the game, Western outshot Lipscomb 25-13. WKU goalkeeper Daryl Sattler picked up the win and improved his record to 6-3-1 on the season. Western (6-3-1) opens Missouri Valley Conference play at home Friday night against Southern Illinois at 5 p.m. as part of a men-women doubleheader. The Lady Toppers play Sun Belt Conference foe Arkansas State at 7 p.m.The womens team plays its first Sun Belt match tonight at Florida International.
