Jim Britt began a volunteer chaplaincy program at The Medical Center and Greenview Regional Hospitals, which resulted in the full-time chaplains that exist at both today. Currently as chaplain at The Medical Center, he averages 10,000 visits annually and performs these duties not as a job but a joy.

Formerly, as pastor at Eastwood Baptist Church, he led in a dialogue with Holy Spirit Catholic Church which was a first between a Southern Baptist church and a Catholic church in the nation. He worked on race relations by encouraging pulpit exchanges between black and white pastors. He founded the Celebration of Faith which brought churches together for worship with the opportunity to hear leading pastors from across the country.

Jim Britt has worked to bring understanding between all races, faiths, traditions and encourages us all to live life serving God and our fellow man.
