A lady with great drive and boundless energy, Lucille Brooks is very deserving of recognition for all of the contributions she has made to her community. Since retiring after 38 years of teaching, the Simpson County native has devoted her time to civic, religious and community affairs.
Most notably, through her vision to make black history vital in the community, she has been instrumental in the development of the African-American Heritage Museum in Franklin. The museum in the old Mahin house, which is now being restored, will provide a resource of historical information as well as a place to gain an appreciation of the area’s diverse cultural heritage.
By the end of summer, Lucille hopes to have the museum open for tours, study groups and meetings.
