Robert Reynolds was greeted with a steady stream of fans Monday when he visited Bowling Green as part of the annual Titans Caravan.
Reynolds, along with Tennessee Titans teammates Albert Haynesworth and Antwan Odom, signed autographs for an enthusiastic crowd at Kroger on Campbell Lane.
This is really awesome to get back here in the community I grew up in, Reynolds said.
Reynolds played at Bowling Green High School before signing with Ohio State and later being taken by the Titans in the fifth round of the 2004 draft.
When training camp begins this summer, Reynolds will be battling for a starting spot at outside linebacker.
During his rookie year, Reynolds had an up-and-down season that saw him playing on both defense and special teams.
It was pretty tough, Reynolds said. It was all a learning experience. Im really looking forward to my second year in the NFL.
Reynolds started one game last season and recorded five total tackles two solos and three assists.
It was good to get that year underneath me, so I know what to really expect, Reynolds said. It was a long season, but it was like that for every rookie. Everybody I talked to was just glad to get the year over with.
Reynolds won a national championship at Ohio State and played in the Big Ten, one of the top football conferences in the country, but still had trouble making the jump to the highly competitive NFL.
I had to get used to how physical and how fast it is, Reynolds said. I played at a great program at Ohio State I played against some of the best, but now Im really playing against the best.
Reynolds said playing in the NFL was like playing Michigan Ohio States archrival every single week.
But he still feels good about his chances of winning a starting spot in 2005.
I really feel confident in myself, Reynolds said. I think I can compete for a starting role. Thats my goal for the season to hopefully start.
