The Capitol Arts Alliance is featuring the artwork of Jennifer and Jesse Ray Sims in the classroom of the Health & Wellness Center at Greenwood Mall through September.
Capitol Arts Alliance’s exhibit at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce for August includes Kim and Marlee Jones, paintings, weavings and mixed media; Brody Vincent and Sarah Gutwirth, paintings, in the Houchens Gallery; Brenda Brown, paintings and mixed media, in the Mezzanine Gallery, through Aug. 22.

Theater
Pine Knob Theatre in Canneyville will present “Lucy And Ruth’s Diner” on Fridays through Sept. 24 and “Daddy Took The T-Bird Away” on Saturdays through Sept. 24. Performances are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 each. Before this Friday’s performance, there is a free concert at 7 p.m. by the Ohio County Community Senior Choir presenting a variety of gospel selections. If your name is Lucy or Ruth, show your ID at the play on Friday and get in free. Bring your car club and be a part of our show. A ’50s-style diner will be open before the show. The Stinson Craft Shop is open before the show and offers handcrafted items. Pine Knob Theatre is in Grayson County, 35 miles north of Bowling Green. The Kentucky Repertory Theatre in Horse Cave presents “Macbeth” through Sept. 10. The theatre also will present “Shiloh Rules” through Sept. 3. The play is about the night before a modern-day re-enactment of the Battle of Shiloh. Call (800) 342-2177 for ticket prices and play dates and times.

The Woodburn Fall Festival will host the sixth annual Antique Tractor, Car and Steam Engine Show on Aug. 27. Entry registration begins at 8 a.m. with dash plaques to the first 100 entries. There is a parade at 11:30 a.m. Tractor Games include slow race, wagon backing, gate opening, barrel roll, tractor push race, tractor starting contest (hand cranks), a Blind Man’s Race and egg-cracking contest. Garden Spot Run is Saturday in Franklin. Sponsored by the Franklin-Simpson Parks and Recreation Department, there is a 5K run and walk with several categories. The Woodburn Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual ice cream supper Saturday at the Woodburn Ballpark. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. and include games, food, ice cream from Chaney’s Dairy Barn, music from Blue Highway Band, prize drawings (including a Gatlinburg getaway), cakewalk and an auction. Auction items include three club-level tickets and a parking pass for the Tennessee Titans’ home opener Sept. 18 against Baltimore. The Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra presents Beatlemadness5 today through Saturday. This will be the fifth year that local musicians play the music of the Fab Four. The BB&T Designer Show House on Stillwater Court will continue tours and seminars through Aug. 21. Proceeds will benefit the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $10, and for $12 guests may upgrade their ticket to allow unlimited visits to the house.
Get Down in the Valley at Lost River Cave will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday. The event, to benefit the cave, will feature Doc Livingston’s Swing Band and Skip Bond and the Fugitives. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there will be free boat tours. Tickets are $15 in advance from the cave, Monticello Bank and Thompson’s Trophy Center and $20 at the door. A Voice for Animals, a non-profit, animal welfare organization, will be at the 2005 Franklin Car Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at the community park. The event will feature ice cream and spicy barbecue. Food will be available for $5 and there will be a silent auction and music from One Accord. Proceeds will benefit the CASA program.
Bowling Green League of Bicyclists, Greenways Commission and Operation P.R.I.D.E. are continuing the neighborhood bike rides the third Saturday of each month.

UAW Local 2164 will host Joe Hemphrey, Kentucky state service officer for Kentucky’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. every third Tuesday at the hall at 712 Plum Springs Loop.
He will be available to discuss such things as vision care, speeding up the claims process and registering for care at the VA clinic.
Bowling Green Parks and Recreation will offer adult and youth tennis lessons at Kereiakes Park through July. The sessions are Monday through Thursday for two weeks.
Youth lessons are offered 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., or 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Adult lessons are 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost of participating is $45 if the department provides a racket, or $40 if you bring your own. For more information, call 393-3249.
