SWANSBORO, N.C. Clifton Lee Hix, 71, of Hubert, formerly of Bowling Green, died Aug. 30, 2003, at his home.The Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., native was a retired captain in the Marine Corps, served tours of duty in Korea, Japan and Vietnam, and, after his retirement, served as laundry manager of the Moses H. Cone Hospital Laundry in Greensboro, and was CEO of Hospital Services Inc. in Columbia. He was a lay speaker, a Mason, a Gideon, an active volunteer with the Hem of His Garment, a Sunday school teacher, a deacon and an active member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. He was a son of the late W.D. Hix and Delma McCoy Hix. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Glen Hix; a sister, Ina Faye Woodson; and a brother, Billy Joe Hix.Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Hix and his wife, Jeanne, of Matthews, N.C.; two daughters, Teresa Hix Harmon and her husband, David, of Lexington, and Rosalee Davis Grady and her husband, Rick, of Fredericksburg, Va.; three brothers, Carlton C. Hix, Douglas Hix and Darrell Wayne Hix, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; four sisters, Elda Mae Martin, Linda Jean Craft, Norma Dean Cohron and Joy Gayle Satterfield, all of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Hix of Matthews, Lauren and Erin Harmon of Lexington, Jim and Amanda Davis of Fredericksburg and Daniel and Dylan Hix of Savannah, Ga.
