Kroger expanding to add drive-throughKroger at 350 U.S. 31-W By-Pass is spending $500,000 to expand its pharmacy to accommodate drive-through customers. While she could not say what the square footage of the expansion would be, Kroger spokesperson Melissa Eads said pretty significant square footage would be added. The expanded pharmacy, scheduled to open March 1, will not mean extended pharmacy hours, Eads said. While the rest of the store is open 24 hours a day, the pharmacys hours are more limited Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. The stores employs more than 100 people. While were in the process of remodeling, the pharmacy will still be open and in business, she said. The expansion will allow customers who maybe have a sick child in the car to get that prescription without coming into the store, Eads said. If they do come in, they will find a larger pharmacy area to accommodate them and a larger counseling area if the pharmacist needs to talk to them. It will be a brand new look. Gass named director of operationsMichael Gass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Gass of Bowling Green, was appointed director of operations of the Jacksonville, Fla., headquarters facility of Unison Industries. Gass helped integrate Unison into GE Engine Services after GE purchased the company in 2002. He will be responsible for the plants overall performance. Unison designs and manufactures electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine and space uses. Gass is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Franklin business undergoes expansionA Franklin industry will add 10 to 15 employees with an expansion that is underway. Quality Rework and Sorting is adding nearly 8,000 square feet to the business that began operations in 2002 with 35 people. The industry provides inspection, sorting and packaging for automotive-related manufacturers and soon will be ISO certified for quality assurance, according to the Franklin-Simpson Industrial Board. The expansion is expected to be complete in March at which time new employees will be hired, the board said. Knight promoted to asst. vice presidentMolly Michelle Knight has been promoted to assistant vice president of Fifth Third Bank. She joined Fifth Third in Feb. 2002 and serves as commercial legal counsel. Her responsibilities extend throughout the banks eight-state region of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, West Virginia, Florida and Tennessee. Prior to Fifth Third, she worked as an attorney at Greenebaum Doll & McDonald. Knight earned a bachelor of arts degree from Western Kentucky University and a juris doctor degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law. She is an alumna of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers and Leadership Northern Kentucky. She serves as vice president of the board of directors for Ohio Valley Residential Services Inc., and as board chairman for the Kenton County Junior Chamber. She also served as president for the latters. Additionally, Knight is a legal liason for the Steeplechase Subdivision Homeowners Association. She resides in Boone County. Contractor, mayor elected to groupJ. Kevin Westray of Scottys Contracting and Stone, has been elected as a director-at-large of Kentuckians for Better Transportation. Bowling Green Mayor Sandy Jones also was elected to the groups board of directors. KBT is made up of business and government leaders and with the goal of developing the nations transportation system to enhance economic growth.
