James E. Duff Sr.

CW4 Ret. James E. Duff Sr., 64, of Bowling Green died at 4:45 a.m. April 21, 2006, at The Medical Center.

He was a retired military officer and retired farmer. He was a member of Plano Baptist Church, attended Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of Bowling Green Masonic Lodge No. 73 F&AM. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a board member of Hadley VFD. Mr. Duff received an associate’s degree from NYS University and was former chief personnel officer of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, serving 24 years, having served in Vietnam, Korea and Okinawa. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Overseas Service Bars. He was a son of the late Horace Henry Duff and Lois Duke Duff Wilson of Franklin, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lewis Duff.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens with full military honors at graveside. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic service is at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Other survivors include his wife, Barbara Jenkins Duff; a son, James Ennis Duff Jr. of Bowling Green; a daughter, Leslie Dawn Duff Bowles and her husband, Troy, of Bowling Green; three brothers, J.R. Duff and his wife, Janet, and Darrell Duff, all of Bowling Green, and Allen Wilson and his wife, Cheryl, of Franklin; two sisters, Betty Stinson and her husband, Charles, of Franklin, and Darlene Duff of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Mandie Silas, Tristan Bowles and Tanner Bowles; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Duff of Morgantown and Jerri Daniel and Linda Jenkins, both of Bowling Green; two brothers-in-law, Jack Daniel and Danny Jenkins, both of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Goldie Allen of Scottsville.
