Wheeler honored with Realtor service award

Gillie Hyde holds its grand opening today

Gillie Hyde’s Commercial Truck Service Center had its grand opening today. The ceremony was at 610 Happy Valley Road in Glasgow.

Executives from Ford Motor Co., Caterpillar, Cummins, Hunter, Fontaine, Knapheide, Manning, Utilities Equipment and Rockport Commercial Vans were in attendance to exhibit current and future products. Doug Anderson is the general manager for Gillie Hyde Auto. Gillie Hyde Auto has been in business since 1953.

Thompson Allstate has new location

Ribbon cutting for Citizens First Bank

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has a ribbon cutting for Citizens First Bank. The ceremony is at 1065 Ashley St., behind Meyer Mortgage, at 4 p.m. Friday.

Pardue opens new kung fu academy

Tom Pardue opened a new location of his East West kung fu Academy at 3009 W. Cherry St. in Scottsville.

Operated by Ken K. Jones and Sons, it offers a full Kung-Fu curriculum for adults and children, tai chi and self-protection classes. There are other locations in Bowling Green and Franklin.

Area’s visitors bureau earns booth award

Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau was awarded the best on-site booth promotion at the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International conference last month.

Bowling Green’s theme, &#8220Drive to the Green … Bowling Green” was selected as the most original and effective promotion and marketing manuals. The booth had a putting green for visitors to use.

Sims earns certified specialist designation

Bowling Green Realtor Cathy Sims was given the certified residential specialist designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Those completing the necessary courses demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. About 38,000 Realtors nationally have the certification.

Sims is a sales associate with Creye-Leike Executive Realty in Bowling Green and a member of the Southern Kentucky Board of Realtors.
