San Antonio-based SGA Global has formed a partnership for a distribution hub in Bowling Green to grow the company’s reach in the Southeast, CEO and CFO Jason Virden said this morning.
“(Bowling Green) is a strategic location for us to service the southeastern region. It made a lot of sense to us,” Virden said.

SGA Global manufactures paint and asphalt additives called Diamond Shield Fortifier and Paint Shield Fortifier.
Corporate Service & Supply in Bowling Green will run the distribution hub, which will supply to SGA Global’s distribution points in nine states in the Southeast, according to co-owner Russell Turner.
“This is our first time as a distribution center,” Turner said. “This is a new venture for us, and it’s an opportunity to take Corporate Service & Supply into a new direction.”
The partnership will result in about 10 additional employees next year, Turner said, and the retention of about four seasonal employees who normally would be let go.
Turner said that is a conservative estimate.
“We believe it can be much larger than that,” Turner said.

Sales people will earn from $30,000 to $75,000, depending on sales, and those who work in the warehouse will earn about $10 an hour.
CSS will outsource the distribution to Bowling Green-based Piccolo Inc. and Transportation and Logistics Management, which will transport SGA Global’s products.
Turner anticipates growth in other areas as well.
“The larger SGA Global gets the larger Corporate Service & Supply will get,” Turner said.
CSS plans to expand or build a new facility in the near future, according to Turner.
Jim Hizer, president and chief executive officer of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, said the company’s decision to come here because of the city’s location fits with the chamber’s branding theme.
“When we were contemplating our regional brand, we had conversations with a number of local employers in an effort to gauge their reasons for continuing to invest in southcentral Kentucky,” Hizer said. “What came up again and again is that our location is excellent, and the quality of life is second to none.”
SGA Global will launch a new product in the first quarter of 2007, called Curex Plus, that will target both commercial and residential aspects of the paint industry, according to Virden.
Within the last year, SGA Global saw 350 percent growth, Virden said.
SGA Global also has offices in Long Beach, Calif., and Largo, Fla.
“We started in April 2004, and we built this company from the ground and have more than 50 distribution points in the United States now,” Virden said.
