American Profile, a weekly publication focused on the joys of small hometown life, makes its first appearance Saturday in the Daily News.

Published by the Franklin, Tenn.-based Publishing Group of America, &#8220American Profile” launched in April 2000 and now boasts a circulation of 8 million, said Tiffany Green, a quality assurance representative at the publishing company.

The magazine celebrates &#8220ordinary people doing extraordinary things,” Green said, and focuses on &#8220the small hometowns across America.” Bad news will never be found within its colorful pages, she added – it’s all &#8220positive, feel-good stories.”

In its &#8220Rate this Issue” feature on www.americanprofile.com, readers are invited to share their opinions. It’s in that forum that the company learned issues of &#8220American Profile” are passed on from grandparents to grandchildren, used in teachers’ classrooms and kept in the kitchen to refer to the popular recipe section, Green said.

&#8220It’s so heartwarming for us to get to read those comments, because that’s what we hear. We tell stories that you don’t hear anywhere else,” she said.

Since the first issue, the &#8220Hometown Recipes” section has been a reader favorite, she said. The page pairs a favorite recipe with a photo and short snippet about the reader who submitted it. Those recipes have been culled over the years to create five cookbooks, Green said.

The magazine also features an &#8220Ask American Profile” section that answers readers’ Hollywood queries, and several rotating sections including &#8220Happenings,” a listing of festivals in the area. Other topics include finance, a &#8220Hometown Spotlight,” and entertainment.

&#8220It’s something you can sit down and share with your kids,” Green said.

Daily News Managing Editor Mike Alexieff said, &#8220A common complaint from readers is that there is not enough good news in newspapers. While we publish positive news on a daily basis, Amercian Profile will provide our readers with even more.”

The Daily News continues to carry Relish, a monthly cooking magazine also published by the Publishing Group of America. Relish appears on the first Saturday of every month.
