It was a squirrel, not the weather, that caused about 1,700 Bowling Green Municipal Utilities customers to lose power today

&#8220I believe our tree trimming program has helped tremendously in regard to storm-related issues,” said Mark Iverson, BGMU general manager. &#8220It is starting to pay dividends.”

Iverson said this morning’s outage occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when a squirrel created &#8220some kind of fault” in the system which served Mount Ayr, Bent Tree and part of Hartland.

Power was restored in 45 minutes.
