A Bowling Green man arrested on a shoplifting charge Tuesday was charged with two felony offenses after allegedly attempting to bring meth into Warren County Regional Jail.
Justin J. Eversole, 20, 3334 Witt Road, was charged at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft.
According to a Bowling Green Police Department arrest report, Eversole was charged with theft after being detained at Kroger, 711 Campbell Lane, where he attempted to steal a package of eye drops.
Upon being brought to the jail, employees there found a small bag of what Eversole said was methamphetamine in his right shoe, the report said.
Eversole remains jailed without bond.
Arrest — Eric G. Estrada, 22, 109 Creekwood Ave., No. 207, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at his residence and charged with first-degree criminal abuse and fourth-degree assault.
According to a city police arrest report, officers responding to a disturbance at Estrada’s residence were told by a woman there that Estrada had struck her 2-year-old son with a belt and when the woman attempted to intervene, Estrada punched her twice in the face.
The child had welts on his legs, a bloody lip, a large knot on his forehead and a bruise on his left cheek. He was taken to The Medical Center.
Estrada remains in jail under a $10,000 bond.
Arrests — Lewis Alfred Weston Jr., 35, 437 McDivitt Court, Apt. B, and Anthony David Hodge Jr., 22, 630 E. Eighth Ave., were arrested Monday and charged with theft on allegations that they stole a 24-inch trackhoe bucket from Kenway Contracting, 4520 Louisville Road.
According to a city police report, the owner of Kenway said that Hodge and Weston were at the facility to remove scrap material but were not authorized to take the bucket, which was sold to a recycling center.
During an interview with police, Weston confessed to the theft and implicated Hodge, who in a separate interview said he was present at the scene but claimed not to be involved.
Both men remain in jail under a $10,000 bond.
Burglary — Someone entered an apartment in the 2000 block of Stonehenge Avenue and stole a cell phone and a 36-inch TV between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $400.
Burglary — Someone entered a residence in the 1700 block of Old Louisville Road and stole a digital camera and a Sony PSP between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $511.
Burglary — Someone entered an apartment in the 2600 block of Navajo Court and stole a laptop computer, a 19-inch computer monitor and an Xbox between 3 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $1,200.
Theft — Someone stole a refrigerated semi-trailer parked outside Huish Detergents, 254 Dishman Lane, between Sept. 3 and Monday, according to a city police report. The victim said that his company had delivered the trailer to Huish on Sept. 3 and waited to report the theft in case one of their drivers had picked up the trailer. Losses totaled $45,000.
Theft — Someone stole a gold ring, a digital camera, two sets of Indian jewelry and two forms of ID from a car parked outside Greenwood Mall, 2625 Scottsville Road, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 5, according to a city police report. Losses totaled $690.
Theft of legend drug — Someone stole prescription bottles of Lorcet and Xanax from a car parked outside Family Dollar, 485 Glen Lily Road, between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to a city police report.
Theft of mail matter — A Bowling Green woman reported that someone stole four bills out of her mailbox in the 1400 block of Curling Court between 2 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Dec. 9, according to a city police report.
