Runaway Rabbit, a slipper company in Bowling Green, sponsored Gift of Adoption’s 600th adoption in November, which is National Adoption Awareness Month.

Gift of Adoption is a national charitable organization based in Illinois that encourages adoption by providing grants to qualified parents. Grants are funded by donations from individuals and companies, such as Runaway Rabbit.

About 80 million Americans have considered adopting, but because of the high costs associated with adoption, less than 1 percent actually adopt a child, according to a news release.

Runaway Rabbit, founded in 2005, manufactures wearable gifts, including Classic Bunny Slippers.
